Such a lovely piece of Victorian finery. This extraordinary brooch dates to the 1880s and has the most unusual intricate three dimensional design. At its center there is a frosted glass flower surrounded by etched leaves in yellow and rose gold filled embellishments. The center of the quartz flower has a prong set paste and there are additional pastes around the perimeter in between the petals. The floral medallion is articulated and swings from a bar that is also enlivened with paste rhinestones. There is a little loop at the back which may have been for attaching to the clothing. Not sure why. The brooch is in wonderful condition and measures 1 1/2" wide by 1 1/4" long. Elongated "c" catch on reverse. All original with a soft golden patina that makes it glow. Master craftsmanship went into the making of this beauty as it is very intricate in every detail.
