Amazingly gorgeous Victorian decorators piece. Fresh find from a local Portland estate of fine antiques. This impressive silverplate basket was made by Barbour Silver company and is American. It features a fascinating design in repousse illustrating the 18th century lives of Dutch people. Interior scenes with Mamas with their babies, men entertaining, wood stoves, kitchens.. There is also chasework and the detail is quite excellent. Accompanying the basket is an amazing Victorian beaded flower arrangement. The flowers are all handmade and are just lovely. Very time intensive process to wire little glass seed beads and create such a beautiful arrangement. The flowers that I can identify include a rubrum lily, white iris, blue forget-me-knots, chrysanthemums, hydrangeas and dogwood. Of course it's all up to your interpretation. They are all colorful and lovely. The piece is quite large at 24" high. Nice antique condition. Circa late 19th century. Would make a lovely centerpiece for your table or buffet at the holidays. The flowers sell for $25-$50 if sold individually. There are over 40 individual blossoms and at least 15 leaves. So the flowers along with the beautiful antique basket are a great price. If a buyer so desires, I can sell the flowers separately from the vase and the shipping cost will be much less. As it is arranged now, it must be sent in a large box which carries a dimensionalized weight charge.
