Antique Chinese FAMILLE ROSE Porcelain Jade Hand Mirror
This is part of a nice collection of fine antiques and jewelry from a local estate that I am offering for sale. This antique Chinese hand mirror is simply divine! The porcelain is famille rose and features an interesting hand painted enamel design of a scholar or sage holding a peach. He is accompanied by his students who are examining a scroll and pointing to the sky. It appears that the scholar is either holding a stick with ribbons attached to it or perhaps this represents incense? It is set into an intricate gold tone frame that has a repousse design going around the perimeter. The entire mirror is quite lovely and features a celadon green jade carved mount with a design of two birds in mirror image. The handle is a smooth piece of jade. The mirror is in nice condition with the exception of a tiny chip under one of the prongs at the very edge, so it is almost indiscernable. It measures approximately 9" long and 4" at the widest part. I would date this to late Qing Dynasty (1910) or possibly Republic early 1920's. Simply STUNNING!
