This is such a sweet find. An unused vintage 1940's handknit layette for baby. It apparently was knit and entered into a fair as it took the blue ribbon! The ribbon reads North Marion County Fair Woodburn (Oregon) September 24-25, 1948. Which is included. The layette includes a capelet with armholes, bonnet and booties. The booties are quite small in comparison to the other two pieces. The capelet looks like it could fit a 6 month old all the way up to around 2 years. Very adorable. The bonnet is made much the same way as little Asian baby bonnets were... with little pompoms on the side. So cute. There are also pompoms on the tie at the collar. No wonder this took first prize! It was never used so it's in near immaculate condition. Beautiful creamy ivory with blue scalloped embroidered edge and the sweetest little rosebuds. This is really a treasure. It comes the way I found it which is in an old 1920's Peter Pan shirt box. A true heirloom! This would be cute for a doll or baby.
