This Pre Columbian child's Rattle came from a local estate of a couple who travelled the world collecting unusual primitives. I don't know much about this type of item, but this is definitely a genuine antiquity. I saw a very similar piece that was referred to as a Pre Columbian Mexico Nopiloa Goddess rattle, albeit more feminine in nature than this one but characteristically the same. It does have some damage.. well, it is several hundreds of years old, so that is to be expected. It has little pebbles or balls inside which make it rattle. It is made of a heavy terracotta type clay and measures 5" by 2 1/2" by 1 1/4" deep. A really wonderful example of this type of Pre Columbian art.
