An exquisite work of art. This 18 karat gold and diamond spray brooch will take your breath away. It is fashioned in the Mid-Century Modernist style with organic coral branches radiating out in a spray. Similar in taste to brooches designed by Tiffany and Andrew Grima, circa 1960. There are 20 fine quality VS grade white prong set diamonds scattered among the "coral" giving the brooch a sparkling contrast with the textured gold. The brooch is of excellent quality and weight at 19.5 grams of pure 18 karat gold. It is marked 18 ct denoting European origin. It measures 1 3/4" in diameter and the weight of the diamonds is approximately one carat in total. The back has a pinback with safety clasp for wearing as a brooch and also swivel retractable bail with loop for hanging on a chain as a pendant. There is a file mark area on the back and one other small spot where someone has tested the gold content. The piece is very lively in person. It was difficult to capture the sparkle in photos. This is a very fine piece of jewelry sure to please the most discerning collector of vintage fashion gems.
