Simply divine matched pair of Antique German bisque figurines featuring a 18th century couple taking tea with their beloved spaniel by their side. The faces are cherubic on the young lady and gentleman. The couple are the picture of comfort, relaxing in their respective chairs with teacups in each of their hands. The lady even has her elbow propped on a gold pillow. The attention to period detail is wonderful both in the costumes and furniture. An adorable little King Charles Spaniel is shown beneath the young man. These are simply beautiful and the coloration is divine. They may be intended to be used as bookends given their size but they are not weighted . They are marked with a "G" and Dep as well as a number. Dep is shortened for either Depose (French meaning: Registered) or Deponiert (German meaning: Registered) So the figurines could be German or French in origin. Condition is good with some firing marks here and there (areas where the bisque porcelain expanded during firing and is not completely smooth). They measure 6" high, 5 1/2" long and 3" wide. A lovely decorative pair of antique figurines not to be missed. Absolutely charming!
