What a lovely statement piece. This graceful and feminine brooch was made by "Originals by Robert", Founded by Robert Levy, David Jaffee, and Irving Landsman as Fashion craft Jewelry Company NYC in the 1940's. The quality and design of their jewelry rivaled that of their peer Miriam Haskell with the same attention to detail. The stones and leaves are hand wired on to a gorgeous gold filigree backing. The reverse is also heavily ornamented and is nearly as beautiful as the front. During the post WWII era, Hollywood divas were at the epicenter of fashionable jewelry and ladies everywhere wanted a piece of the glory. The handmade jewels were highly coveted and their popularity has never waned, now being more sought after and collectible than ever. The design is classic and the quality withstands the hands of time. This beautiful gem is quintessential of the period with faux baroque pearls, art glass beads simulating agates and flat back aurora borealis and crystal rhinestones set among tendrils of golden leaves. This brooch is absolutely stunning. Marked with the iconic mark "Original by Robert" in an artists palette shaped plaque on the reverse. Rolling safety catch closure. Condition is very good with minor loss to the pearls. Magnificent size at 3" in diameter. Will come in a foiled presentation box.
