Spectacular pair of Art Deco Modernist bookends from Italy. These hand carved alabaster bookends are functional art at its finest. The alabaster is done in contrasting colors; dove gray and a lovely sea glass shade of blue green. The style has a stepped design with flying "V"s with a ball at their center. All The edges have been hand beveled for added interest. They retain their original label on the bottom. Measurements are 5" high by 5 1/2" wide by 4" deep. Condition is good with the exception of some tiny pinpoint dot bruises to the alabaster in places which is indicative of the age. The alabaster has some really interesting natural variations to the stone. These would be fantastic in any Modernist or Art Deco interior. I have seen two other examples with the opposite color combination and this one is actually lovelier. Another set sold for nearly $600.
