Oh my! Impressive pair of Art Deco era intaglio glass earrings featuring a sensuous pair of nude fairies swinging on a flower swag. The nude maiden is demure with her head down and has a huge expanse of dramatic wings creating a geometric contrast to the softness of her body and the floral bower from which she swings. These are high quality reverse carved etchings on crystal glass. This design was based on one created by Rene Lalique that was called "Figurine se balancant" (see last photo). It is also very much in the style of the work that Josef Hoffmann did on his perfume bottles. The etching is expertly done and extremely detailed. The glass is bezel set in a fob type setting and are suspended from gold filled button earwires. The condition is superb. They are quite large and have some weight to them, weighing approximately 15 grams each. Measuring 2 1/2" in length overall. The glass measures 1 1/2" by 1". These are superb, you will not be disappointed. Excellent pieces of Deco art glass from Europe, circa 1920's.
