22-Inch antique German doll marked Simon & Halbig 949, made 1888 and later. This early example of the mold has a closed mouth with full lips, deep brown set eyes, upper and lower painted lashes, multi stroke feathered brows and pierced ears. Her antique brunette mohair wig matches her eyes and brows.
The original body is of the Sonneberg type having 6 ball joints, large hands, and straight wrists. This sweet girl has color coordinated her costume of claret red dress, large brimmed hat, socks and shoes over antique white cotton underclothes. How sophisticated she looks. No ruffles and lace and ribbons are needed.
No damage and no repair clean from a non-smoking environment.
