Antique 16 inch papier mache Bru twins, marked Bru 6, circa 1890's. The papier-mache Bru is rare to find, even more rare to find as twins. They belonged to the daughters of a family living in Paris. The dolls have painted complexions, set blue paperweight eyes, upper and lower delicately painted lashes, finely feathered brows and open mouths with inset teeth. The original French jointed composition bodies have straight wrist lower arms. Each doll wears her antique blond mohair wig with cork pate. The dolls are wearing matching bronze colored silk dresses, (melting in places) with silk edging and brown velvet. One has marked Bru leather shoes and the other has antique shoes. See page 127 Of Theimer's Bru Book for papier mache Bru. If you want something rare and wonderful, this could be your fabulous purchase of the year! No damage and no repair clean from a non-smoking environment
