Antique Wind Up Automaton Mechanical Bisque Girl Doll in Cradle cries and Won't Go to Sleep circa 1880
After winding this charming automaton, the bed rocks back and forth and the doll slowly lays down but right before her head rests on the pillow, she jumps up in the bed and makes a crying noise. She then does this a few times. The winding mechanism works perfectly and the piece is in excellent condition.
There is a YouTube video of the doll working in this listing.
The automaton is all original and the German bisque doll has a closed mouth with blue painted eyes, rosy cheeks, and a black painted scalp with blond mohair wig. She is wearing all original antique clothing as well as the bed is filled with antique bedding. The early painted cradle has hand painted floral motifs on the side and no damage or repair. The automaton is from a smoke free environment. Measures: 9" long X 7.5" wide X 5.5" tall.
