18 inch Papier Mache German shoulder-head on a pink kid body fashion body, circa 1840. These German heads were exported to France where they were put on kid bodies, often pink tinted, and sold as French dolls. She has a mohair wig elaborately fashioned with looped braids , and painted features.
Her ethnic costume features an embroidered cap with net veil, a fringed shawl, black apron, and a stunning floral print skirt. Underneath is a brown checkered skirt and white petticoat, black stockings and she has 2 velvet shoes.
The doll won a first place ribbon from the Doll Collectors of America in 2015.
