13 Inch SFBJ Key-wind Bisque Mechanical Walking Doll Marked DEPOSE SFBJ 2 Works!
Mechanical walking dolls are some of the most fun survivors of bygone days of childhood play. This is an antique French Bisque headed walking doll by SFBJ. Her head has no damage and no repairs. She is marked on the back of her head with "DEPOSE SFBJ 2". She has blue glass set eyes with upper and lower painted eyelashes, brushstroke eyebrows, open mouth with teeth, accented nostrils and eye corners, sweet blushed cheeks and a brown mohair wig. She is on her original composition walking body.
When wound with the key the child stands on the front of the doll and takes the dolls hands and leads the doll - almost as if she is teaching the doll to walk. The doll will walk forward with her legs each taking turns walking with her legs going up and down, when wound and the hands are stabilized by the child/person holding the arms to guide her. Really fun!!
She is wearing an antique light pink and white dress with a slit in the dress to wind the doll with the key, antique undergarments, and white net socks and white leather antique shoes. This darling doll wears a side part mohair wig. She works well! Circa 1910.
