20 inch Antique SFBJ 235 French Bisque Character Doll Solid Dome Glass Eyes circa 1912
Whimsical and fun, this SFBJ in French stands for Societe Francaise Bebe Jouets. This darling solid domed bisque socket head with sculpted boyish tinted hair and laughing face is a joy and a delight! No damage and no repair to the bisque head it is in perfect condition. Brown glass set eyes, painted brown curly lashes, incised eyeliner, brush stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed "open" mouth with smiling expression, two upper molded teeth. Wonderful rosy cheeks with a solid dome head with molded and painted hair. French composition and wooden fully jointed SFBJ/Jumeau body has its original finish except for the hands and lower legs look repainted there is areas of chipping and paint loss here and there but is in good condition. Has the crier body with cut-out on the back of shoulder blades to hear the voice. Voice is silent. The tape you see running around the torso is where the SFBJ Company cut the body to put the crier mechanism in. This is original. This sweet chap is well costumed in black velvet suit with black hat to match. Black antique shoes are replaced. Marked on back of head SFBJ 235 Paris 8. SFBJ, circa 1912.
