Antique 28.5 inch 2072 German Bisque Closed Mouth Bruno Schmidt Character Doll
Very charming pouty character Bisque Bruno Schmidt doll, circa 1910 to 1920. She is rare and very hard to find, and has the look of a real child. Incised B and P O (in crossed swords) BSW (in heart) 2072 6, and she mint condition with no damage and no repair, but does have some wig pulls that are touched up.
The B and P stands for Bahr and Prochild and the BSW in the heart is for Bruno Schmidt. Bahr and Prochild made the heads and Bruno Schmidt were the retailer and probably painted the heads and put them on their bodies. All this is documented.
Hand painted features have feathered brows over superfine painted lashes and tender dark blue glass sleep eyes and a auburn human hair wig with bangs and sausage curls and has a peach colored ribbon in her hair. Her plump cheeks are rosy and the closed mouth pouty has such a sweet expression.
She comes to you on a ball jointed composition and wood body that has a gorgeous smooth original finish, jointed at neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees, with no repainting or repairs. Dressed for a party in a antique cotton dress with antique pantaloons and slip, and comes with antique leather shoes with a buckle in the front, perhaps she is going for a visit to Grandma's.
