17 inch Doll with 3 faces, happy, crying and asleep. The cloth body has two strings at the side, pull one and she says mama, pull the other and says papa. You turn the head with a ring at the top of the hood head. No damage and no repair. Circa 1890 and 1910.
Marked on the back of the shoulder plate with, CB in a circle, which strands for Carl Bergner. The doll and hood come with the original mohair wig, original paint and cloth body with wood and composition jointed arms and legs. The body has stitch jointing so that it can easily sit.
Smiling happy face, has glass eyes, open closed mouth, nicely painted with finely painted upper and lower lashes, and nice cheek color with dimples character type brows, head rotates well. Really a happy child.
Sad crying face has glass eyes, a tear, a very unusual character face, chocolate brown glass eyes, very expressive sad open/closed mouth, great cheek color. Looking like she had a very bad sleep or day.
The asleep face is my favorite because it shows the child resting peacefully and beautifully with eyes closed, really having a nice nap. If you were a child you could put the asleep face on when you went to bed, and the happy face when you woke up......Very charming.
Having a mohair wig attached to the hood that surrounds the head. Beautifully dressed in all antique dress, bonnet, slip and pantalet very beautiful and clean, with blue bow at chin and waist.
