In need of some TLC, the papier mache shoulderhead, circa 1880s, is from the German Sonneberg area. She has brown glass eyes, upper and lower painted lashes, feathered brows, painted closed mouth and rosy cheeks. The surface finish is in good condition, showing good color.
Somewhere in time, she acquired the antique cloth body with baby proportions. The combination gives her a charming childish look.
She wears an early cotton dress over appropriate under clothes.
This sweet little girl is looking for someone to cover her head with a wig or even a close fitting ruffled bonnet over the remnants of her original hair.
