This wonderful pair of vintage cufflinks and tiebar set were made as a souvenir of the DDH HIEI, a Japanese military helicopter carrying destroyer.

From the information I was able to find, the Hiei was stationed out of Kure, was laid down on March 19th 1970, launched August 13th 1973, commissioned on November 27th 1974 and decommissioned on March 16th 2011.

Judging from the purple velvet box, these are definitely for her earlier years.

Approx. measurement of the cufflinks are 1" wide while the tiebar measures 2 1/8" wide.

Excellent preowned condition with minor age appropriate wear. The box does have some wear and discoloration.

No marks as to maker.

Really a wonderful Japanese Military cufflink and tiebar set.
