Laurent Amiot was the first Canadian-born silversmith. Our fine sterling meat platter is a fine example of his early work; its design reflects his training in Paris. He was born in Quebec City (1764-1838) and worked in Canada throughout his life. This is an oval platter with reeded rim and is 11 ½ inches long by 8 5/8 inches at its widest. Weight 502 grams.
