Collection of American Civil War period ambrotypes, circa 1860. Photos 3 and 4 (with detached cover) is of a gentleman wearing a suit and plaid waistcoat. It has a gilt liner embossed with flags, drum and cross swords, and cannon in the four corners. Under the portrait is a banner with "The union now and forever". The case is 2 7/8 inches by 2 3/8 inches. Photo 5 shows a lady in a striped dress; photo is in a rare hanging frame with brass suspension ring. The original backing was missing so we secured a backing and applied blue tack to protect the ambrotype from scratches. The outer frame is 4 inches by 3 ¼ inches. Photo 6 (with detached cover) is of a gentleman with comb-over hair and mustache with mutton chops; it is 2 7/8 inches by 2 ½ inches. Photos 6 and 7 represent the same gentleman as in photos 3 and 4. Photo has gilt incised decoration on the outer front of the case. There is some lifting of material on the back upper part. Photo is 2 7/8 inches by 2 3/8 inches. Photos 8 and 9 show a lady wearing a bonnet with ribbons; photo is 2 7/8 inches by 2 3/8 inches.
