A striking child's porcelain coffee service decorated in a blue, white, and red check design with gilt trim and accents, circa 1870. The coffee pot is 6 ¾ inches high, 5 ¼ inches across the handle and spout, 2 ½ inch diameter base. Covered, two-handled sugar bowl is 4 ¾ inches high, 3 ½ inches across the handles, 2 inch diameter base. The creamer is 4 inches high to tip of handle, 3 1/8 inches across the handle and pouring lip, 1 ½ inch diameter base. Saucer is 4 ¼ inches in diameter (tiny rim chip). Cup is 2 1/8 inches high, 2 ½ inches diameter opening, and 3 ¼ inches across the handle. Tiny rim chip on saucer and a chip on cover of sugar bowl. A lovely child’s coffee service that presents well despite wear to the gilt on all pieces.
