We love our very large Georgian silver salt cellars with their elongated octagonal forms, squared handles, gadroon borders, and gilt interiors. Each cellar rests on four ball feet. Hallmarked London 1804. Maker Hannah Northcote or Henry Nutting (hallmarks for both silversmiths are identical). Each is engraved with contemporary script initials. Salts measure 4 ¾ inches across handles by 2 ½ inches wide by 1 ¾ inches high to tip of handles. Combined weight 198 grams. One ball foot is pushed up a bit into the bottom of cellar; can be pushed back.
