A rare William IV sterling silver snuff box of rectangular form with rounded corners, cast, scrolled footrim and rim, and engine-turned sides. The hinged lid encloses the gilt interior and has a cast fox-hunting scene with two horsemen and the fox running for its life pursued by four hounds. The bottom is also engine-turned and has an erased rectangular plaque in the centre. Hallmarked Birmingham 1836. Maker Taylor & Perry. Dimensions: 3 1/8 inches by 1 ½ inches by 1 inch high.
