A fine George IV sterling silver, footed salver of shaped, circular form having a scrolled rim with seven Bacchus heads. Lobed, segmented border and foliate-scrolled surface with vacant reserve. Salver rests on four paw feet. Hallmarked Sheffield 1826. Maker Robert Gainsford. Weight 883 grams. Condition: there are a number of old, small repairs to the underside of rim and a larger old repair which is visible in our photos of the underside of rim, none of which compromises the integrity of the piece. This is a gorgeous piece of early silver at an excellent price compared with other similar pieces on the Internet.
