A fine sterling silver, oval, footed tray having a gadrooned rim and four gadrooned, triangular, paneled feet ending in scrolls. Hallmarked London 1805. Makers Thomas Hannam & John Crouch. The original plain border was later vertically-pierced and decorated with garland swags and alternating heads and braziers. A top-notch effort with stunning result. The surface, which was later engraved to commemorate the winner of . . ."The King's Plate Montreal September 1921, won by CH. C. Flying Ford 123 lbs. bred and owned by Commander J.K.L. Ross", was again later reversed so that the engraving was as it is now, on the bottom. Dimensions: 16 inches by 11 ¾ inches by 1 ½ inches high. Weight 1223 grams. Condition: Minor surface scratches commensurate with age; otherwise, with the later piercing and engravings, excellent.
