A cased set of twelve silverplate open salt cellars with gold washed bowls, circa 1880. Maker The Taunton Silver Plate Company, Taunton, Massachusetts. Base diameter 1 ¾ inches; height ¾ inch. Case 8 ½ inches by 6 5/8 inches by 1 ½ inches. Condition: case is in poor condition; most of the salts display various degrees of pitting on exterior (the result of putting salts in case with salt in bowls); only one with pit marks in bowl. Salts will interest a collector because of the short period of time the company operated.
