A rare and exquisite early silver gilt basket with ducal coronet over script initials. Hallmarked London, circa 1775. Maker's mark for Emick Romer and lion passant on bottom rim. Diameter 5 ¾ inches; height to edge of basket 1 ¾ inches; with handle raised 4 ½ inches. Weight 158 grams. Originally basket would have been part of an epergne.
