A rare Austro Hungarian travelling knife and fork set. Knife has steel blade and 812 fine silver handle; fork has steel tines and 812 fine silver handle. Date mark is rubbed for 184.. Maker unidentified. City mark appears to be Linz. Length of fork 8 5/8 inches; knife 9 7/8 inches. Set comes in its original gilt-embossed red leather case. For a similar knife & fork, page 153, plate 488, in "Eight Centuries of European Knives, Forks and Spoons" by Klaus Marquardt. Condition: box has some issues; knife handle is slightly loose. Spoon is missing, but it's a rare set, including the leather box.
