One of the nicest examples of Tunbridgeware we've come across. A rosewood and Tunbridgeware lap desk, the top inlaid with a stag and deer, circa 1850. Inside, fitted interior, and velvet-covered writing slope, with silverplated and glass inkwell. Interior lined with blue paisley patterned paper. Two interior lidded compartments with Tunbridgeware lids. Dimensions: 9 ¾ inches by 7 3/8 inches by 2 ½ inches high. Condition: upper left exterior has a patch of minor inlay loss; interior paper lining shows wear. This piece is in extremely good condition for its age and usage.
