An exceptionally rare 18th century Augsburg flatware service comprising eight forks (501 grams), eight spoons (555 grams), and eight knives with silver cannon handles and original carbon steel scimitar blades marked "Gulpper" or "Goepper." Maker: Johann Bartermann, Master Silversmith (Ref. Rosenberg #934). Forks and spoons are in a fiddle-like pattern with decorated edges. Knives are 9 1/4 inches long; forks are 7 1/2 inches long; and spoons are 8 1/8 inches long. All pieces bear the von Wendt (Munster) crest. Condition: excellent commensurate with age.
