Set of Twenty-Four Early 20th Century Russian 875 Silver & Gilt Fruit Forks & Knives by Morozov
An absolutely stunning Russian fruit set in neo-classical style, consisting of twelve knives with silver handles and gilt blades and twelve forks with silver handles and gilt tines. Hallmarked: St. Petersburg. Mark for 1908-1917. Maker: Morozov – Imperial Warrant Holder and Court Supplier. Assay Master’s mark indistinct. Length: knives 6 ¼ inches; forks 6 inches. Weight 779 grams. Condition: excellent. We think the handles may be solid silver; they feel very heavy for hollow. But if they are hollow, they are not filled with pitch as was the practice at the time. The blades are affixed firmly to the handles. Very beautiful!
