This lovely salver has a beaded rim and pierced border hung with garlands and palmettes. The surface is allover engraved and chased with flowerheads, scrolls, and bellflowers. In the center is a head over Gothic initials "CHM." Salver stands on three open-work legs with draped swags. Hallmarked on underside London 1880. Makers: Joseph, Albert, Horace, & Ethelbert Savory for A.B. Savory & Sons (#8446). Also impressed on underside "Goldsmiths Alliance Ltd Cornhill, London. Diameter 8 1/8 inches. Height 1 ½ inches. Weight 404 grams.
