Magnificent and rare South German marquetry chest, circa 1740, with colorful scenes depicting a boar hunt. Various exotic woods were used in creating the elaborate inlaid hunting scenes of the boar, hunters, birds, rabbits, and foliage. There have been restorations over the years and some modifications. The scroll feet would have been bun feet originally, but were changed between 1750 and 1760 in keeping with the Rococo style of the period. Chest measures 32 1/2 inches high by 45 1/2 inches entreme length by 24 1/2 inches extreme depth. We are limited to nine photos in our shop, but additional photos and further information are available for serious enquiries. Baronial Provenance.
