A pair of armchairs from the 1890's were hand carved with detailed angels or cherubs and lion paw feet for a palazzo in northern Italy.
The original finish on solid oak is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain their warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Frames are reglued to served another generation on this antique furniture.
Old upholstery is worn and faded, see photos. Hand stitched wool needlepoint has petit point panels with griffin and bird motifs. There are losses to the hand caning back on one chair, see photos.
Measurements are 24" wide, 27" deep, 41" tall and seats are 18" high.
