A wonderful country pine trunk or blanket chest was hand hewn about 1840 in northern Europe. Every surface is hand planed and carved square wooden pegs were used instead of nails.
Wrought iron hardware is original with one later hinge bolt, there is no key for the lock. Corners have hand cut dovetail joints on this antique furniture. The old finish is in very fine condition, it has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain its warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Measurements are 56" long, 26" deep and 29 1/2" tall.
