Presenting a beautiful Royal Vienna Scenic Portrait Vase (urn) with Underglaze Blue Beehive Mark...this mark has usually been associated with the Carl Knoll Company (1883 -1906). What an amazing example of the ROYAL VIENNA Turn-of-The-Century Aesthetic and Artistry. Reimer was a prolific artist whose name can be found on many of the best examples, and is usually associated with scenes from mythology. This suburb hand painted scene is of a young couple sitting beside a river, with the the young woman stringing flowers, and the young man resting on her knee, gazing up at her adoringly Perhaps she is one of the fates, LACHESIS, apportioning the time allotted the young man . The bottom of the vase has an label "Rinvildo?", perhaps to indicate the mythological scene depicted. Everything about this piece bespeaks QUALITY -- from the complimentary colors baby blue and pale pink, the HEAVY RAISED GILT floral garlands, the ornate circle of golden vignettes and embellishments that encircle the vase , the lovely of GOLDEN finial atop the helmeted lid, the tiny raised jewels of pink and gold for tactile interest. Taken all together, it is a stunning piece bottom part of the inside is fully gilded. The Vase (Urn) is in superb condition with almost no wear to the gilding (98% Intact).perhaps a small little raised jewel or two has been worn away, but all in all in about as good a condition as you could find. It GLEAMS with old gold, and the scene just BURSTS with color..it could have been painted yesterday not a century ago. The Vase is about 6 inches tall, and about 4 inches wide at the widest point of the body.
