Superb T&V (Tressemann & Vogt) Limoges CURRANT Punch Bowl. The pictures of this lovely punch bowl pretty much say all there is to say! It is in SUPERB condition, and is as colorful and shiny as the day it was sold (over 100 years ago). This lovely T&V punch bowl was professionally painted by the noted and prolific studio artist "Maxwell REAN (sometimes misread as Reau) KLIPPHAHN". He was one of Pickard China's best artists.
This beauty is painted on a T&V (Tressemann & Vogt) Limoges blank, and is marked with T&V mark #7b, underglaze white ware mark in green, and printed with a patent date of 1901.
The subject matter of this bowl is strongly presented in Autumnal tones of Yellow, Red, and Brown..the berries look very naturalistic, and are well painted on both the outside and inside of the bowl. Accents of artistically placed art nouveau swoops of gold and white adorn the border of inner rim, and the golden inner rim is prominent and eyecatching. There is little to no wear on this fine antique, and seems to have been perpetually cabinet displayed as a proud possession should be. Further, the mold itself is special, as the BOTH the top and base are scalloped. Such PRISTINE examples of Klipphahn's work are rare, collectible, and highly prized.
Size: approximately 9 1/4 inches in diameter, and about 4 inches tall.
Condition: EXCELLENT condition! No chips, cracks, crazing, rubs, or hairlines.
Marks: T&V (Tressemann & Vogt) Mark #7b, underglaze white ware mark in green with a patent date and a design name.
