This large, hefty tankard, or stein features a slightly stylized grape motif, with leaves and vines twined around the top and bottom. There is a LOT of thick, rich gold that is in very good condition, with only very slight wear around the bottom edge. There are a few pin-point glaze pops on the background area, which is typical on these hand painted items. No wear on the painted decoration. It is in very nice condition. This well painted mug could certainly hold its own in a collection of handpainted Limoges, Pickard, etc.** It stands just under 7" tall and is 4" wide at the base. The bottom is marked Bavaria, and it is signed by artist E.W. Koenig as shown.
