This is a sweet little candy dish, or nappy that features delicate pink and white wild roses against a background of pale blue, lavender and yellow. Hand painted and artist signed by renown china painter SHERRATT. Because It is signed on the reverse side SHERRATT'S, I believe this was most likely painted during the period when he had his own decorating studio in the Washington DC area, around the late 1800's to early 1900's, when hand painted china was at its peak of popularity in this country. This lush spray of flowers and foliage is painted in the realistic style that Sherratt is known for. This little nappy measures about 6 3/4" handle to handle, by 6 1/8". The floral decoration is in very extremely fine condition. There is some wear to the outer edge of the gold trim (see photos).
