A very pretty and fresh violet pattern hand painted and signed by Pickard artist REURY (Reury, Howard B). The lavender and white violets are set against a background of pastel green, yellow and pink. Gold flowers with burgundy penwork accent the wide gold border. The exterior of the bowl is a creamy pale yellow. Handpainted and a nicely embossed, patented blank from Jean Pouyat, Limoges France. This bowl also carries Pickard decorating mark 5 (1905-1910). It measures just under 9" in diameter and stands 2" high. The painted area and the gold are in exception condition with no loss. There is a small, flat chip on the rim of the base where the bowl sits, which is not seen when displayed (see photo of marks). There are also a few bits of errant purple glaze on the side which I think enhances the 'handpainted' quality! (See photo). Neither of these issues detracts - or even are seen - from the lovely display of this bowl. Priced accordingly. A very good value for this bowl which is otherwise in excellent condition!
