This little gem of a plate measures just over 6" in diameter, but the artist has certainly put a lot into the scene! There is a mountain waterfall feeding a rocky stream that a lone fisherman has discovered. Evergreens in the background and distant hills and valleys complete the scene. Painted on a blank from J & Co. Bavaria, it is artist signed A.H. (Heidrich, Adolf). It carries the Donath Studio decorating mark 4 (1906-1928). Heidrich also operated his own china decorating studio in Chicago between 1915-1922. Both Donath Studio and Heidrich's own were competitive with the larger studios such as Pickard and Stouffer. Adolf Heidrich is known for his excellent pictorial work. ** The only thing to call on this plate is a bit of glaze missing from the pant leg of the fisherman. Otherwise the scene is in perfect condition.
