An interesting nature scene with cranes wading through still waters, with the sun setting in the background.
The scene was hand painted at Stouffer Studio in Chicago, and is signed JEL, possibly for Thomas Jelinek.
The vellum glaze gives the scene a lovely, ethereal atmosphere.
The plate measures about 8-3/8" diameter. The blank is from Jean Pouyat, Limoges France, stamped with mark 5, in use between 1890-1932.
The Stouffer Studio decorating mark is unusual and rare, and is not listed in Alan Reed's Pickard Encyclopedia section on Stouffer.
The condition is extremely fine, with nothing to call.
