A long and lean hand painted tray in Pickard Studio's POINSETTIA PENDANT pattern. Signed by artist J. Nessy, who was employed at Pickard in Chicago between 1898-1918. I am not certain which Pickard studio mark is on the back side, but I believe it is either mark 5 (1905-1910) or mark 6 (1910-1912). The pattern example in Alan Reed's Pickard guide carries mark 6. I don't believe the golf leaf design behind the mark is representative of Pickard mark 7, but...........I could be wrong.
This piece measures an impressive 14-3/4" long, and is just under 5-1/4" across. Height of handles about 1-1/2".
The condition is extremely fine. Even the high points of the handles show no gold loss. A great tray!
