Pickard Studio's AUTUMN CURRANTS pattern was hand painted and signed by artist LEON, who decorated for Pickard Studio between 1898-1905.
Using a beautiful autumnal palette, the artist presents clusters of currants against colorful leaves. The gold border sets off the deep cranberry-brown background, which eases into a very pale berry color at the base.
The scalloped, fluted blank is from Onondaga Pottery Company - Syracuse China, in New York. It measures about 9-1/2" diameter and stands about 4" high. It is in very good condition, with some surface scratches to the painted area (see close-up photos). Displays beautifully!
