This beautiful hand painted pitcher or tankard, begins with a lovely blank from GDA Limoges, France. It has a nice ribbed body, with embossing at the base and neck. It was then painted by artist Maxwell Rean Klipphahn (signed REAN, as was usual.) Rean worked for Pickard Studio in Chicago between 1898 - 1930. During those years, he also worked at various other studios in Chicago, and also had his own china decorating studio. This pitcher does not have a decorating studio mark.
Nice, full clusters of red currants dominate the foreground, with shadowy currants behind. A gold rim with green scroll work finish the top, and white enamel accents are present throughout.
Standing about 10" tall, this beauty is in extremely fine condition, with only the most minimal gold wear at the edge of the rim.
