Such an unusual, organic shape to this bowl! Although hand painted in Pickard Studio's "Encrusted Linear" pattern, this piece was painted at Osborne Art Studio in Chicago, most likely between 1913-1918. It is signed OSBORNE on the interior of the bowl. The various china studios blatantly copied each others patterns , stroke for stroke, without concern.
The basket handle has a flowing quality to it, resembling a tree branch. The interior is an acid-etched gold, while the exterior is a smooth, burnished gold glaze. The cobalt blue daisy medallions are brilliant against the gold. There is a little gold wear to some of the high points on the handle, but nothing obtrusive. A beautiful piece, in beautiful condition!
The bowl is about 9" at the widest point, and it measures about 5" to top of handle.
