This bowl was hand painted at Pickard Studio in Chicago, in the desirable DESERTED GARDEN pattern. It is signed REAN, for Maxwell Rean Klipphahn who worked for Pickard between 1898-1930. It is stamped with the Pickard decorating mark 7, in use from 1912-1918.
The Nippon blank has four lobes, and embossed design. The center is smooth burnished gold; the exterior is a pale yellow glaze. The diameter is 9-3/4" across and it stands about 2-1/4" tall. It is in very fine condition, with some small scratches in the gold center (see photo).
