This pitcher, or jug, from Stouffer Studio in Chicago is an interesting variation of Pickard's popular DESERTED GARDEN pattern. It features a band of various fruits and berries at the shoulder of the pitcher, and the rest is a beautiful smooth, burnished gold. The interior is completely covered with a sheer iridescent glaze.
Usually, the smooth gold glaze is prone to all sorts of scratching, but not in this case: the gold is just beautiful, with no loss! Standing about 7" tall, and about 7-1/2" from spout to handle, this pitcher is in extremely fine condition. I do not find an artist's signature on this piece. It is stamped with Stouffer decorating Mark 8, in use between 1914-1918.
